Benedict Gondwe S’Passion About Football

During our days where all started regarding our football career. His first memories playing football are on the streets in kaNyamazane,which became a daily routine after school hours.Upon beginning break times also included playing football which sparked the passion for the sport.Given that being played for a short period during the school year.He decided to joined Young Lions Fc based in Valencia ,Nelspruit.The club, is where he received his first formal training sessions where his development and understanding of football was Nurtured through playing among some of the most talented players in the Area.The coaches at the club would selected him to play with older age groups and later the senior team which instilled his Quest to pursue a career in Football.He was influenced and inspired to became an footballer by the late Emmanuel “Scara”Ngobese ,although there are many footballers Locally and internationally that he looked up to and would try to replicate the playing styles.One thing that have always been able to do ,is find inspiration from those around him most especially, his team mates.When he grew up,Benny s’ambitions were to represent the Country and also to take care of his family, given the sacrifices they made to support his aims,also stated football isn’t the Biggest Sport in the world for nothing, the sport has a lot of influence and it gives one an opportunity to help inspire motivate ,or connect with people from all walks of life.Challenges he faced, said given the popularity of football there were too many politics involved in football which influence the game and mostly to the detriment of the players,challenges included injuries. Regarding lessons he picked up ,according to him,football is more than just kicking a ball.There are aspects such as mental state (psychology), physical preparation (strength) and conditioning), discipline and dedication are all equally important.
Benny have learnt and enjoy every moment when playing football, the relationships and people they interact with throughout the journey can be friends for life.Being completely honest with himself, one must realize that to become a professional athlete,it takes resilient dedication to goals where there is no Guarantee that will achieve it ,what changes he would like to see concerning football development in South Africa ,said South Africa Football Developments needs leaders in the game who will put full investment and priority to the youth football players. More organized and structured Leagues within amateur football ranks,more support to youth coach educational. Adoption of long -term Athletic development models which are uniquely designed to fit the South African Context (not copy and paste models from Europeans Countries), more investment into girls and women s’football .what it felt for him to trained with one of the Brazilian team? Benny happily said, his visit to Brazil only further grew his passion for football and his experience there allowed him to see how technically gifted Brazilians are and the use of skills in a effective way during play. They live,eat,drink,sleep football in Brazil.There isn’t anything new he can say about the Brazilian way of playing as they have all seen it and its brilliance. Since Benny retired from football ,his focus at the moment ,is to complete his studies as a sport scientist and his aim to supplement his qualification with coaching badges.He would like to contribute to the long term athletic development of youth athletes through evidence and experienced based methods of training ,physical preparation and psychology.
Things Benny likes about football highlighted football has the ability to connect people from diverse backgrounds. Through his travels in other countries, even in cases where he did not speak the local language, through football have been able to make some of his closest friends.Its the universal Language of football that he love.About his Best Mentor/Coach ,the former Young Lions Striker said its difficult to name one as there have been many influences and lessons,learnt from all coaches have had the pleasure to be coached by.Benny s’ favourite football idols are Emmanuel “scara”Ngobese and Lionel Messi.Encouraging words for upcoming youngsters, do not limit yourself with your Dreams! Dream big and have full and total dedication to the journey of chasing your goal .Lastly he told us these days he play for the pure enjoyment and love for the game.He believe that through his studies and ambitions ,he will be able to get involved in professional football although in a different capacity to a player.
